Connwood's staff are licensed and insured. Our professional foresters have a
combination of education and experience to make them fully qualified for guiding
landowners in the stewardship of their property.
Connwood has a staff of five foresters. We employ foresters
with high personal and professional integrity, and qualifications derived
from both educational and practical experience. We have combined
forestry experience of over 80 years. The following paragraphs provide
short biographies on the background, skills, and qualifications of each

Dave Beers (Norfolk, CT) has a B.S. in Biology and Natural Resource
Management from SUNY ESF Syracuse and a Masters of Forestry from
the University of Maine. For five years prior to joining Connwood, Dave
worked as a forestry consultant in Connecticut for Ferrucci & Walicki, LLC. Dave
has also worked as a municipal wetlands enforcement officer
for the town of Washington, Connecticut. Dave enjoys teaching and
publishing about forests, curling, skiing and biking.

Peter Lesmerises (Griswold, CT) has a B.S. in Forestry from the University of New
Hampshire. He served in Guatemala with the Peace Corps where he ran a tree
nursery and conducted soil conservation classes, then as a consulting forester in
Virginia before moving to Connecticut. For the past 22 years, he has worked as a
procurement forester in southern New England. Peter enjoys travel, camping and

Gregg Cassidy (Harrisville, RI) has a B.S. in Plant & Soil Science and
M.S. in Forestry from University of Massachusetts/Amherst. Prior
forestry experience includes working as a Service Forester with Rhode
Island DEM and as a private consultant serving Rhode Island, eastern
Connecticut, and central Massachusetts. Special interests include
forestscaping and managing for alternative forest products.

Jess Wikle (Great Barrington, MA) has a B.S. in forestry from the University of New
Hampshire. She came to Connwood from Great Mountain Forest in Norfolk, CT,
where she took part in the educational programs as well as forest management
activities. She also spent time as an intern for UNH Woodlands and the Society for
Protection of New Hampshire Forests. She now serves on the tree committee in
Great Barrington and volunteers her time to help manage the town's forest
properties. She is interested in community outreach and teaching about forests.

Arl Selner (Middletown, CT) attended the Forest Technician Program
at Paul Smiths College of Arts and Sciences. He joined Connwood in
1967, and except for a short military tour in the late 1960s, has been
employed by the company on a continuous basis ever since. Arl retired in 2008 and
now stops by his office here to keep us in line and to help out here and there. He
continues to be an valuable knowledge source for us.
Bob Haines - Subcontractor (Middletown, CT): Bob is the
owner/operator of Future Forestry, a fully insured forestry consulting and
logging company that specializes in Witch Hazel harvesting. Bob is also the
caretaker of Connwood’s property and Christmas tree plantation. Bob has a B.S. in
Forest Management from the University of Massachusetts. Prior to starting his own
business, Bob worked as a procurement forester. Bob can fix anything.
