Forestscaping involves the ecological restoration of small forested parcels. This technique uses principles
of both forestry and landscaping to create a forest with a managed, park like appearance.
This concept is generally applied to smaller parcels, 10-20 acres, but could include part of a larger property
that is targeted for special treatment (like adjacent to home site and/or trails). Some traditional forestry
techniques are used but the focus of management is based more on aesthetics and obtaining immediate
results.
Typical treatments to enhance aesthetics often include:
• Increase diversity by planting additional native trees and shrubs
• Promoting the growth of unique or specimen trees
• Promoting dense vegetation to create a screen for privacy
• Controlling invasive plants
